To Those Who Strayed from Facebook, We Salute You!

Hello all!

I'm thinking that due to the fact we're looking for voice actors there may be more people looking at this blog and so I'll explain what we're up too.

Jenny and I, two animation students in Bristol are currently working on a Animatic (moving storyboard) trailer for an animated film. However, this we also plan will become a web comic over the summer, so we thought we'd use this blog we've made for Uni and idea to be much more than just an idea we got on some windy February.

The Chancer Project, or Chancer as it's better known now, has two main characters and three supporting characters and set in Bristol, England in modern day.

For the Premise look below to May's Update where you will also find an array of pictures and information about the project from beginning to current, and when the trailer is finished you should be able to find it here and we'll even let you know when the web-comic comes into full swing!

The animatic/trailer will be here finished on the 1st June 2010. I hope you like what you see!

Help from other Artists

I've found someone to write music for our trailer, and he's been writing things on and off for us for the past month.

To look at his work click here! http://soundcloud.com/eplusmusic/

As well as this, a friend of mine in Costume Design come up with the design of our 'hench' characters we've labelled riot-soldiers, who's jobs are to make sure that the Chancer's in a nut shell don't screw up which you can see below.

Once I know of a site where her work is displayed, I'll post it up.

EDIT:

http://dogfightingrebecca.blogspot.com/ - Here's her blog, I'm sure she'll be putting up lots of stuff!

May Update!

Update on the Chancers project!

Firstly I found some lovely stuff on a blog called http://characterdesign.blogspot.com/
which has a variety of design styles. It leads me on to looking at the designs for the film 'How to Train Your Dragon' which was a beautifully made movie, and I'd reccomend anyone to go see it.

On the Chancer front, as it's now known officially, we did a presentation the other day and it went amazingly well! I personally wished I had been able to talk more on my other projects, but the story pitch of the Chancer project sold really well to our audience of our classmates and our tutor.

Here is some of the resources we used and you haven't seen before! Including new characters and an update on the plot so we know what's going on! ^^

Here is the Premise finally decided:

Darren Rhodes is a Chancer; and he loathes his job.

It used to be very challenging taking care of the decisions of influential human clients across the country as a personified conscience. One bad choice however, led to his demotion to the Bristol branch, and being left to take care of Jackie Sharp. A confident eleven year old girl who's decisions are minute in comparison to his predecessors.

This documents the day where the first person in acknowledgeable history gains free will from their Chancer...and by so being, Darren and Jackie have a lot of running and hiding to do and in the process form a special friendship.

Here is a Picture of Darren and Jackie used for the presentation drawn by myself.

Here is the presentation slide about Aimee, Jenny's character; she's Darren's best friend and despite knowing him well wants to get him out of the rut that he got himself stuck into in his job.

Jackie Sharp, tidied up for the Pitch, as her character design has changed quite a bit.

Some new and old sketches of Darren

We decided that the story should be set in Bristol to help us with our environments and this is the reference pictures we've taken.

Another of Jenny's brilliant inclusions to the story, here is Vincent and Roger, though already in the story, they're personality and plot has been greatly fleshed out. Vincent being a power hungry security chief and his dopey son who's eager to please him, and there's some more pictures of them below:

Getting Motivated

I found these recently helping me get back into work. This one by John Lasseter really made me feel better about what I've been trying to do!

Spring Update for the Chancers!

Here is just some new character designs for Jackie and Darren that I've come up with over Easter! Lots of stuff has happened you will be filled in on the project promptly. Slight story changes, and the setting established to be nowhere else but Bristol!

As well as this, we've added in three anonymous characters to be our 'agent' type characters to chase after Darren and Jackie in the adventure they share. In the next few days this will be organized to make more sense, in terms of the story.

I am also receiving help from a student studying music at Southampton Uni to create out 2 min. trailer music. Jenny Adam, the other animator on the project should also be adding her character designs here as well so it's easier to share stuff.

Hope you like!
